So an obvious question to ask but are we expectingto see Super Deluxe Editions of 'The Velvet Underground' and 'Loaded' over the next 2 years? Or do we think Lou's passing might bring things to a halt for now? If they are coming, what extra tracks/live discs would we expect/hope to be included?

Well, If there will be a deluxe edition of the 3rd album next year, I believe it will include both the closet mix and Valentin's mix + the 45 versions (and the Rosco thing). And perhaps the Matrix show on the Super deluxe version?

Oh no no wait a minute,
a 6 CD set would probably be the two mixes + the 45s.
The Record Plant stuff. And maybe BTP march 15?
And the Matrix tape that we had a sampler of before.

Btw: I would hope for a 45th ann super duper deluxe set of
Cale/Riley's Church Of Anthrax with the outtake from those sessions. Would be a killer

I would like to hear all versions and mixes of Disco Mystic.

Kill Mick, my guess is that this stuff has been prepared for release since at least last year when they remastered VU&N. We know that they remastered the Valentin mix already and I would think they did everything at that time in readiness.

Warlock, I'm with you on that! According to Underberger's book there are three sessions in 1969 that produced recordings. The first, in March '69, was referred to as the J. McClure project.

They recorded eight tracks over three days: The Great Unknown, Hit It, Falling Leaves, Galactic Hominy Grits, Pakastine Sleighride, St. John Passion, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and Walk Away Renee Levine.

In June they worked on tracks from Church of Anthrax over two days of separate sessions. The speculation is that they recorded or reworked all this material for the actual release in 1970.

I really want to hear that unreleased album!

How ever many there are, there certainly aren't enough. When my kids misbehave, I lock them in a room and play it at 5000db so they understand the power...the philosophical brilliance that is Disco Mystic.

Oh I love Disco Mystic too. It IS fantastic. Usually Ferryboat Bill works great on my kids, but I'll try that. And yes iaredatsun, I saw that! I read about it back and forth and got all obsessed about it. That just gotta come out

It's interesting to speculate on what 45th Anniversary editions of 'The Velvet Underground' & 'Loaded' could include.

The most obvious answer for the 2cd TVU package with the Valentin mix on one disc, and closet mix on the other disc - with single mixes added as bonus tracks. But this doesn't *quite* match the pattern established by the first two - neither of those 2cd versions has an alternate mix of the whole album (although the Scepter Studios versions does come close in parts).

I'm thinking that disc 2 of TVU 45th Anniversary edition may be dominated by a concert recording from that era, following the lead of last year's White Light/White Heat reissue. I guess this would put a further nail in the coffin of the "Bootleg Series" - I remember reading once that the Gymnasium tapes were slated to be Volume 2 of the Bootleg Series at one stage.

As far as 'Loaded' goes, "Fully Loaded" edition of Loaded from a few years ago has stolen the thunder of a 45th Anniversary deluxe. Unless the deluxe edition offers something new (a live recording, or some other outtakes that haven't yet been officially released) then it's just re-hashing an old 'expanded edition'.

Of course, that leaves one other studio release - one I think is well overdue on CD - an "all-in-one" repackaging of the 1969 'Lost Album' sessions.

Given that the 1968 sessions with John Cale have already been moved on to an expanded "White Light White Heat" edition, there's now a golden opportunity to bring together all of the 1969 sessions in one package - in their original mixes where possible.
