I was just thinking about simonm's poll a short while ago about the Max's Rehearsals...
simonm, if you are reading this, what can we do to make these available to this forum? Set up another Yahoo account perhaps? I'm sure a lot of us would love to hear them.
Thanks.

OK - I'm sorry I crapped out on this before, but I'm getting one of those pocket-sized 256MB USB storage things this week so I'll be able to do the sending/uploading from work (which has a faster and more stable internet connection) rather than attempting it from home, which is slow and frustrating. It was my hope to do this over the summer before my Masters degree took over my life again, but spent too long fiddling with guitars and amps and ignoring you lot.
I'll set up another Yahoo address (but I can't do that from work) and send 192 kbps mp3s of the tracks (maybe in mono to cut file sizes).
I also promised to scan and provide a track list for the Andy Warhol - life on tape CD. I'll get round to that soon too.
Shame-faced and lazily yours
Simon

I don't know when I'll be able to do it - maybe this week.
I'll also send the 9min Loop there.

The Max's rehearsal is only about 40 mins.
Put the covers in there - I can always delete them if I need space for the rehearsal.

Cheers Simonm. This is really appreciated believe me. As much as I like Rhino's Max's reissue, it is annoying knowing that something is missing... Are all Velvets fans shameless completists like me?

I think we all get to that stage eventually.
But the Max's rehearsal is great, I like it a lot (honest!)
The only dull bits are the 'learning the break in Head Held High' section. Little bits of Wild Child, Little Queenie, the best version of Walk & Talk It, and many other gems. Quality is as least as good as the Ultra Rare Trax tracks, much better than the Flowers of Evil boot.
For the real completists: the 1970 Lou & Nico tape, fully cleaned up and sounding good, but still tough to listen to as it's mostly flubs from Nico who has forgotten All Tomorrow's Parties and generally isn't very interested.

Actually, now you've brought it up...i've always wondered what the purpose for the 'rehearsal' was? There's no record of a Nico & Lou gig in 1970 or 71 (unless it was cancelled). In fact i'm certain the much quoted 1970 date is wrong. At one point you can hear Lou calling out to 'Richard...Lisa' in the same room. If these people are Richard & Lisa Robinson, then - according to Bockris - Lou didn't meet them until July 1971.
I've had a sneaking suspicion for a while that it's another Bataclan rehearsal tape. Perhaps Nico & Lou arrived early and rehearsed first. I also was convinced for years I heard Johns voice at one point on my old very hissy tape but I'm not so sure now.
Any thoughts?
