Check out link above to see the VU/Nico 4 track that sold for $161.00 on eBay! I bid $21 and nobody bid against me till last hours. There were under 30 people even had looked at auction so I though I had a chance. I didn't even mention it on this forum till auction ended to help my chances. At about 1 minute to go I tried to increase my bid in a 1-step bid; boy was I lucky! I was anxious and read the bid wrong and upped my bid to $158 in error! I can't afford that much; thanks god I was outbid! It was a neat and rare item for sure but the tape didn't even play, and if it did, who has a 4 track??

here is a link to a site with gig posters. This is the VU posters they have listed. I have never seen the Udine poster before. I have the other one by the same artist but didn't even know he did this one. Also the 93 tour poster is slightly different than others I have seen. First it lists the main dates on the tour (never listed on others) and the hologram in the keyhole is clearer than I have ever seen.

I think because of the lack of 'proper' ones, some enterprising soles made up there own. I seem to remember the pyramid design being sold outside the Forum 93 gig as a handbill/postcard and I think there were other bootleg posters as well. I also remember some VU 60s handbills (prob photocopied) laminated in thick plastic for no apparent reason being hawked on the streets They were crazy times back in 93..

You are correct. The pyramid design is by an artist named Loveccio, I think. The other was a set of 100 by another artist. They are nicely done in person and are numbered and signed by the artist but I don't remember his name. My copy is put away right now from when I was scared that Hurricane Katrina would blow down my house and I'd lose all my VU treasures. I think I got my copy via contact with the artist thru good old Mike Kostek.

It was really noticeable that the VU 60s poster/handbill artwork was soooo brilliant and the 1993 tour produced very little in the way of great graphics - the posters were generally poor, boring and uninspiring, the use of the banana logo was misplaced in my opinion they should have moved on and created something new, the unofficial/bootleg art was poor that Udine poster is awful and the official live CD artwork was boring and cheap. Sad Sad Sad as someone once said "don't remember them this way"...

Well... lets make some light on this. The Hologram card has been pressed in 600 numbered copies. I stamped about half with the dates on the front. The hologram is the same on all of them,looks better depending on the light...It was never sold at the forum concert. I giveaway 100 copies for free. It was approved by the Velvets(I got a copy signed by all of them). I also gave Sylvia the Forum poster. I asked if I could give some to the Velvet boot inside the venue & she agreed. I giveaway 25 copies to various fans,stuck a bunch on the entrance of the forum & gave to the boot 25 copies that were sold for 17.50 pounds each .I didnt get any money from these. The Udine poster was printed in 100 copies. Before the concert I gave a couple of copies to Sylvia;she asked me for more Forum posters but I didnt got any with me & gave her my adress.for get some more. She really loved it & gave me a pass for backstage. I met the Velvets again & gave them a copy each,had a nice talk with Moe & Sterling ,a quick hallo with Reed & saw John Cale very upset ,so I didnt get close to him.There was a lot of tension goin'on.

Poor & awful..that's a personal point of view that I respect...By the way I've bring my posters at the SF poster fair in 1993/4 ,where I got part of my VU poster collection& were I met all the 60s top poster artists.Actually the Udine poster was one of the favourite among them.. The hologram card is in several of the best music poster collections in the world & has been displayed in a number of art exibhitions in Italy,Japan & United States.I agree that not much else has been created for their European tour,At least I was the only one that took care of this matter.& I had very positive comments on them.By the way my exact name is Alessandro Locchi .

Alex; thank you for correcting me. I have one of your Forum posters and LOVE it. It is surely art, handmade and individual. I had never seen the Udine poster before and I scour eBay daily in search of a copy. I didn't realize you were also responsible for the hologram card. I have been outbid a number of times for one of those and am watching for one at Buy it Now price under $30. Just out of my range these days, but I hope to acquire both because I finally got to see the VU in 1993. Saw 4 shows, and have Prague Poster, all boot cd's and lp's from 93 a backstage pass (from eBay) and almost anything related to the tour. I also have many stubs, Euro magazines with VU covers, autographs from all members (on my Amsterdam tour book, alas) and I have had my eye on a huge 2 piece tour poster in mint condition from Berlin/Hamburg. I met Sterling on a tram and had about a 15 minute conversation with that truly kind man who put up with my babbling about things he surely knew. Met the rest of the band and Sylvia briefly also. Quite a trip! I am watching a 93 tour crew itinerary also which I haven't seen before but I bet I'll be outbid on that. Anyway, thanks again and remember, I LOVE your Forum poster!
