Hey, thats me! Or I mean mine. I had 2 copies of it and I figured it was time to
let go of one of 'em. This is one of my favorite, along with the Dylan Live 66 Box, packaging jobs
of a boot. Hell even among legit releases its tops.

400$, 200$? Sorry to gloat but I just bought one for ?20 with included press clippings. This is the LP that friends who were VU-curious would own and you felt you never needed it if you had all the standard 70's UK LPs. But reading these posts and your post about sound quality made me interested to get one. Also, today, somehow i like the glossy art-directed fake pop art cover.velvetfan wrote:salmercuri wrote:The 2LP Coke bottle story reminds me. I was shocked to see one of those sell for $200 a few years back. The seller had an amazing description of the sound of each cut on that release, I'm talking about pages and pages describing bits and passages and how that release was superior.

FYI, In case anybody is interested, above a 3 items that I have up for sale on eBay. I am starting to pare down my collection due to rough times so I thought I'd give a shout out here in case anybody is interested. Yesterday was my first day sorting through VU boxes that I haven't been in, in years. I hope I keep finding things I didn't know I had. I was shocked to find out that I had 2 complete sets of WGO the entire collection. In fact, someone very kindly xeroxed the first two issues for me a while back because I though I had 1 & 2 missing. Imagine my surprise to find I had 2 full sets. I hope that is a sign of good things to come. Anyway, thanks for looking. (I don't know if the person who xeroxed the issues for me wants it known so he/she will remain nameless)

As for the Fierce Pups Zines ... fisrt time I have seen any of them on sale
Good luck my friend. Hope you get for those treasures what you deserve.

Thanks Alfredo. I wish I had a complete Fierce Pup set for sale. Much rarer than WGO. I have a complete set for me with 1-5 and the deluxe #2 with the clear cover, flip over banana peel. That one will never leave my clutches.alfredovu wrote:Wow Rick, terrific stuff here! I saw it this morning in my usual Ebay search and though ... what the hell! The ex-wife threw my complete Fierce Pup and WGO volumes out (along with 200+ live VU, Reed, Cale, etc cassettes) during my divorce. Might have been a case of justifiable homicide but I resisted...

Re: Rare, Rarest and Most Expensive VU items
Wow! That brings back horrible memories. I had a similar story. Back in 1980 I was married and had just had a son. Me and my then wife were doing horrible. She had mental problems and used to do stuff like dare me to leave during an argument, or hit me and tell me I was a pussy if I didn't hit her back. I had quite a collection even back then and you know how hard it was to find rarities in the 70's; I even turned her on to Lou and the Velvets. Anyway, we had a fight and this time I actually decided to call her on her rant, and I left the house. Realizing I had forgotten my wallet, I drove back home to find her tossing all my Velvets treasures out on the lawn! Luckily I got there before any real damage was done. I kissed her ass to end the argument. The next day, as she was at ceramics class, I loaded up all my treasures, moved in with my folks and never looked back. I always took care of my son, even buying a house around the block from his mom, and I know in hind site that I got out just in the nick of time, but I sometimes feel a bit guilty that my love of Vu & Lou kept me from giving my marriage another try. Re: Rare, Rarest and Most Expensive VU items
As I recently told bleach, I had to put away my turntable when my little one was born (it's been 2.5 years...). I have no room to set it up now, so I've been without my VU/Lou LPs for years! Thankfully I have 'em on CD.bleach wrote:Glad things have worked out for you! As for the topic of this thread, an original 1st edition Warhol Index book just sold for US $242. It had almost everything, and although it looks a little bit worn, I am very surprised it didn't go for more:

I am pleased to offer for auction this rare and collectible Andy Warhol Index Book. I am offering this book at a low starting price with no reserve. This is the first edition soft cover from 1967. As far as I can tell everything is there except for the post card (I have been told). I have included many photos of the book. There are a couple of binder separations and some sections have come loose, Also some small glue stains from the binding, and small tears, minor. Also there is some corner wear and normal issues seen in this type book. The accordion wheezes. The record is included but detached. The dodechedron and string are present and all the pop ups are there. The only serious issue is the pop up castle has a tear and has come apart. It looks to be all there and would work if not torn. It can be repaired. The balloon in there but melted and stuck the pages together. The staining is visible from both other sides. I am told this is normal on every known copy. Also I have made no attempt to force it apart. The Chelsea disc and spring has come unattached but both spring and disc are accounted for. The airplane and tomato paste can are fine. Overall this book is in very good condition and a rare and valuable collectible piece of American Pop culture at it's best. Please email with any questions or concerns or comments. The book is sold as is but I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Check my other listings for more Warhol stuff.
