I think he should be both appreciated AND complained about :D

[I'll not idly invoke the Deity here] what is this?!

It's not my homepage!!!... but if people ask and looking for some, they have seen.. why not?. It's an official release and I think every trader knows that official releases are not for trade. And why shall people pay for a 20 minute-LP near $50? They are satisfied with MP3. I don't know how much people are visiting this forum..... I think a lot more than discussing here and so many vistors are happy to get a link.

PS: I'm glad to be in my heart sometimes a child. It keeps me young :P

I've had the UK issue of this lp for years but never listened to it. It's a regular ?1 item at car boot sales and charity/thrift shops in the UK - I always thought it had no real Lou involvement but I'll need to give it a listen and see if I can hear Lou in there somewhere. I do remember that none of the songs have writing credits (or none that seemed to be Lou-related anyway). Has anyone consulted the BMI database to see if any of these songs have the reed/motta/sims/etc "pickwick" writing credits?

I should have said - I think the UK issue is on Allegro Records (a subdivision of Pickwick UK if memory serves) and it certainly has a completely different cover.....

On the topic of cheapo covers and Lou - things came full circle in 1973 when "Wild Side" was a hit single in the UK. A cheezy cover version was issued on one of those "Hot Hits" lps - that one is also a regular in the charity/thrift shops. (And it sounds nothing like the original....)

I've just seen how much that LP sold for - anyone else want to buy a copy for that price? (joke). Does anyone know the buyer?

Hear hear. Stop complaining about quality and be grateful you can hear the stuff at all!

Presumably, since they sing the Beach Boys songbook, they're all Beach Boys compositions...

if it was flac or shn I'd praise him and his ancestors. As it is, now I have to explain to the people who are interested in this from me, the reasons not to circulate in 'converted from mp3' form. Then I end up in discussions that mp3 sounds as good as the real thing and stop being pedantic. So what starts as excitement ends in tension, all because I'm following 2 of the traders' credos: 'share the music' 'don't use lossy compression'. Sigh.
Thing is, he's not trading. He is just posting some songs for people to hear.

Thanks, arjan. I knew there were some rational people out there. Ya know that expression, "Never look a gift horse in the mouth?" Well, that is exactly what I see people doing here. Some dude is running a fantastic blog (thanks for telling us about it!), where he posts hundreds of songs for all of us to listen to and all people can do is bitch and gripe about flac/shn/kbps...

The blogger probably spends A LOT of money collecting those records, let alone taking the time to transfer them all. Why should he give them away in pristine form? He is letting the world sample anything they want from his collection. Instead of whining and complaining here, maybe you should contact the guy directly?

There is another fantastic site at http://www.strangereaction.com (he is currently upgrading the site), and that dude converts hundreds of punk/hardcore LP's/7"s and singles into MP3 for the world to share. I won an LP in one of his contests! Who would be dick enough to complain to him about the format of the songs?

These people put a lot of time and effort into sharing things they love, and to nitpick and insult them, calling their efforts a "waste," is really annoying. Instead of doing it here, go and take it to the source. How very American to bitch and moan in the dark, rather than confront the source of your irritation. I am sure these bloggers would love to hear the gripes.

Someone should write to Rosie Lee and let her know her MP4's were a "waste," and to not bother ever posting stuff again.
