Re: VU Photo Thread

Just wonder if Billy made out this rare Nico's portrait.Looks an early picture, might be a sort of club-backstage somewhere in NY.
Billy get well soon

Billy get well soon (slight return)

Angus and Hettie in NYC, Warhol photo, Billy Name collection.
This pic appears under a piece on Maclise by Cary Loren. It's small and fuzzy, could be '66?

Andy Warhol, Gregory Markopoulos, Taylor Mead, Malanga and Jack Smith. Not sure who is on the couch. Photo is by Dennis Hopper

Ray Johnson helping Andy Warhol film Jill Johnston Dancing at the Factory, 1964. Photo: Billy Name.
Beautiful postcard iaredatsun,a gang of genious. Those were arty-times so I'm thinking in Jill Johnston or other female sixties artist.

I wouldn;t know where to start Taxine, but you seem to know all the people in that AW complex story! Can we use Jack Smith's look to date it? I seem to remember another photo you posted where he had that beard. Also, when did Jack Smith stop hanging with Warhol? 1964? Also I now see two people on the couch. You suggest Jill Johnston on the left, but I see now another girl who is having her suspender tweaked by Jack Smith. Who could that be?taxine wrote:

Giving some clasic sense to the portrait, that could be;women 1st row and 2nd the males, because of Warhol got feedback with many artist at the time.I would dated this picture around 64 but it's hard recognaise her,I bet for a girl though.
Thanks for your kind words man. http://www.amazon.com/Dennis-Hopper-Alb ... 3791353489

Re: VU Photo Thread
Thanks for the book reference. Using amazon, I see the book has two Warhol photos by Hopper listed. One of Warhol filming and another - Warhol and members of the factory, which could be this one. Both are 1963.taxine wrote:Yeah, good eye iradatsun, there's another artist on the right corner of couch behind the mag.and JS's arm..!!
