Little Sister b/w I'm Not A Young Man Anymore

Post by falconwhit »

New unofficial 7" added on Discogs a couple days ago with Little Sister b/w I'm Not A Young Man Anymore
I assume an enterprising soul from this board?

The recording is not from Morgantown as indicated on the label, but instead it's taken from the Provincetown MA recording that was posted on here.

no amount of audio processing jiggery-pokery is going to make that recording a pleasant listening experience!

i really like this version of INAYMA so i bought a copy, but now i fear the audio will be from this youtube vid, not directly from the higher bitrate files shared here...

I also ordered a copy last week, despite the audio and the frustration of the songs being incomplete.
I'm fascinated by the version of Little Sister which gives a glimpse of what Chelsea Girl could have been
I also really like this version of I'm not a Young Man anymore.
I assume the source is probably mp3s, but it is what it is.

Actually just received my copy this afternoon. Certainly doesn't sound any better than what we've heard before, which is not a surprise. Can't tell whether it's from an MP3 or better source, but don't think it matters anyway considering the super muddy cruddy sound.
Note that what appears to be a pic sleeve is actually just a regular sheet of paper printed on what appears to be a home printer.

Not something that will be played more than a couple of times, just another "thing" to add to the pile.

(On a side note, I thought a better idea would be to collect all live Nico tracks (Columbus), her Factory rehearsals and this Little Sister track, and make a comp that would be called "Nico and the Velvet Underground", but since that's not my trade, putting it out there in case some enterprising soul thinks it's worthwhile).

I ended up buying one, just because I had to. I see that there are two editions. Silver and normal black.

Listening to this Little Sister 7" prompted we to then play Nico's solo LP version, and it was a stark reminder of how much that album was a missed opportunity. Imagine if the Velvets had played on that song the way they did live, that would have been something else.

Conversely, it's crazy how often Nico starts on the wrong beat on the live recording... I think Sterl had mentioned that in an interview, and it's pretty blatant here.
