Outtakes from Guy Webster's photo sessions for the Marble Index front and back covers, plus one that appears to be from VU's '66 stay in LA:

Amazing to see that for the back-cover pic, which looks so otherworldly, she was apparently standing atop a VU minibus!
Webster published an art-book last year "focusing" on his '60s period, which apparently includes the M.I. cover shot:

Re: Nico by Webster
Hi, I've been reading Lutz's book, and greatly enjoying it thus far. It's a warm and loving portrayal of Nico, insightful and often very funny, yet the reader gets a clear sense that the author is "pulling no punches", in other words that he is being thoroughly candid in his depiction of the events he writes about. That can be a tough enough trick to pull off with a subject who's a saint, let alone for one as famously difficult as Nico. In addition Lutz has acted as his own translator, and while the text is quite readable his English is often just a little bit "off", in way that lends it a slightly lyrical poetic quality it might not otherwise have.
As if that's not enough the book includes tons of great photos -- most (all?) are previously unpublished and, being personal candids rather than professionally-made, harmonize well with the "warts and all" approach of Lutz's text.
I don't want to sound like a sales agent or publicist, but, if you ask me, In The Shadow Of The Moon Goddess is an indispensable addition to the growing field of Nico-ography!

P.S. I don't own a Kindle device, so I DL'd the free Kindle-for-Mac app especially to read this book.

Re: Nico by Webster
Is there going to be a paper version?
Re: Nico by Webster
I asked Lutz last year after an Ash Ra Tempel reunion concert, and he said no, no printed version in the foreseeable future.
