Springfield Mass 1970 LP

Post by LoathesomeCowboyBill »

Looks like a new 'fan club edition' is making the rounds in NYC. Total TMOQ style pasted cover, I haven't listened to this show in awhile but the vinyl sounds better than I remember. Store said they only got 10 copies and limited pressing. Just an FYI for the heads.

I seem to remember that the "After The White Heat" bootleg CDR had 10 songs from this show in (almost) listenable quality while track 11 (Heroin) was available on the circulating cassette but in much poorer quality. It would be nice to have the whole show in semi-decent quality, but it sounds as if it was recorded from the car park.....

I see them on Ebay. It looks like they've put some thought into the packaging, using stills from Steve Nelson's silent video of the show.

I'm in the UK so postage and customs duties are prohibitive when buying from the USA. If anyone out there buys it can you let us know what the sound quality is like?

It sounds better than the digital files I had heard before. Not like it is a new source but rather whoever put this together at least did some sort of mastering and may know what they are doing. I was actually surprised by the quality, but like most of us Velvets fanatics I have a high tolerance for this sort of thing. Let's just say the vocals are mostly clear ans the guitars are noticeable. Good enough for me.

Doesn't eBay do an international shipping thing where the US seller just sends to a hub and then eBay forwards it. Is that still cost prohibitive?

Why, oh why, didn't they just do a spoof of this famous LP cover art? https://www.ebay.com/itm/195452197174?_ ... R_D8r5-IZg
